Literature Text

"I never want to grow-!"

A moment, please,
Of your valuable time.
Don't finish that sentence,
And pardon my rhyme.

You want to stay young,
Be carefree forever?
Some sage advice, little one,
Find another endeavor.

What can you do?
Being so small and young,
What is the value of
Being so low on the rung?

You fight for grades,
That won't later matter
Surrounded all day by
"Friend's" inane chatter.

Why quoted? You ask.
Well I'll tell you why.
These friends of today,
Tomorrow they'll fly.

You're bullied and lonely,
Struggling to make a mark,
And while you fail now,
Someday you'll get a spark.

Something will click,
And suddenly make sense
You'll grow up, get strong
And give up all pretense.

No more playing pretend,
With your fly-away friends.
No more worthless grade grabbing,
Or throw-away trends.

You'll be strong, and wise
No longer lost in the jumble
A not-quite-grown-up,
Strong, wise, but humble.

So I ask you now,
Would you still stay small?
Lost in the shuffle, and
Pulled around by the squall?

Take a gander at Soda's as well. Very lovely, and served as wonderful inspiration.
